Apple Pie
Pie crust, fresh or frozen
6 apples, thinly sliced
¾ cup light brown sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons freshly grated nutmeg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground ginger
Pinch kosher salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cut into pieces
Milk, for brushing
Cinnamon sugar, for sprinkling
preheat oven to 375 degrees
Bake pie crust (with pie weights or something heavy to weigh down like another pie dish) for 30 minutes or until golden.
To make the filling mixed sliced apples, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, ginger and salt.
When crust is ready, fill with apple mixture and dot with chunks of cold butter.
Cover with other half of dough and pinch the edges and cut slits in the top. Brush the top with milk and cinnamon sugar.
Bake for 45 minutes, until golden brown.
